Southern Arizona is a hotbed for astronomy which is good for the economy, for education, and for photographers, among others. We have some of the best-known photographers in this field, and part of the reason is the local effort to keep skies darker than many other metropolitan areas.

Last night, I ventured deep into the Florida Everglades with a few friends to capture an image of the Shark Nebula (LDN 1235). The trip was an adventure in itself, navigating through remote backroads under pitch-black skies.
The world around us never stands still and it is this motion that gives Earth life. Without this movement, our planet could not exist. Simply put, movement breathes life into our world. Few of us have ever stopped to think about the importance of this constant motion — stop to bask in its simplicity and beauty. Far too few of us take a moment to see our universe in motion.
